In January 2002, Senate Bill 374 amended state Education Code sections 64000 and 64001 for the purpose of developing a single cohesive, data-driven, standards-based plan for each school funded through the Consolidated Application. The amendment called for an action plan to raise student academic achievement and improve the school’s educational program. Referred to as the Single Plan for Student Achievement, information in the plan is intended to shed light on the effectiveness of school programs. Are all students showing continuous progress? How are programs making a difference in academic achievement? Are student support services being effectively integrated into student achievement? How are resources being used to improve student achievement? What are the school’s improvement targets?
