The Garden & Outdoor Classroom

The Tiger Garden and Outdoor Classroom

Started in 2009 by active Adams parents and staff, the Adam's Garden and Outdoor Classroom is traditionally used to grow healthy minds, bodies and little green thumbs! This year, Explore Ecology runs our garden program and is funded by Adams PTA.

Every student has an opportunity to engage in our natural world and experience the value of stewarding a garden. The Explore Ecology School Garden Program teachers our tigers to grow their own organic food using our outdoor space. They plant, cultivate, harvest, eat or compost bananas, tangerines, greens, squash, passion fruit, strawberries, pomegranate, apples, figs, and more.  Research shows that when children grow their own food, they tend to eat healthier and score higher on science tests.

If you are interested in volunteering to work in our school garden, please contact Allison Quijano, the school principal at aquijano@sbunified.org.
