NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK
CAASPP TESTING: Do Your Best on the TEST!
Adams Tigers Are Sharp! is our theme as we gear up for the CAASPP tests. Testing will take place the two weeks of May 5 to 23 for students in third through sixth grade in the areas of ELA and Math, and on May 20 to 24 for fifth graders in science. Please ensure that students are on time to school every day, try not to have any absences, have a good night's sleep, and eat a protein meal every morning. This will help support your children in doing their best on these important state tests.

SCHOOL PRIDE DAY
Tigers are encouraged to wear Athletic Wear on Friday, May 2nd for our monthly school-pride day. We will kick-off CAASPP testing acknowledging that we have exercised and stretched our minds all year to prepare for this big test, so let’s get ready! Sweats or exercise clothing attire with tennis shoes is recommended for all grades.
BREAKFAST DURING CAASPP TESTING
May 5 - 23: Breakfast will only be served BEFORE School for all grades TK-6th for the entire three weeks of testing. Because we need to ensure that all students have an opportunity to eat prior to taking the test, breakfast will be served BEFORE school only until 8:45 am for all three weeks of testing. Since breakfast will be served before school, there will NOT be breakfast served at recess. Please make sure your student arrives at school each day with enough time to eat, and consider sending them with an extra snack for recess.
NO FRIDAY FLAG FOR TWO WEEKS
Due to CAASPP Testing, we will not hold our weekly Friday Flag Assemblies. This will return on May 23.
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
May 5 - 9 is All Staff Appreciation Week! Our theme this year is “And the Award Goes To…” recognizing that they are all deserving of the spot light and acknowledgement. CALM CORNER
Supporting Children Through Separation Anxiety and Mental Health
Separation anxiety is a normal part of development, especially in young children, but when it becomes intense or long-lasting, it can affect a child’s mental health and daily life. Children with separation anxiety may worry excessively about being away from parents or caregivers, experience physical symptoms like stomachaches, or have difficulty concentrating at school. According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, mild separation anxiety is expected during major transitions (like starting school), but ongoing or severe anxiety may need extra support to help children feel safe and confident.
Parents and teachers can ease separation anxiety by building predictable routines, offering reassurance, and gradually encouraging independence. The Child Mind Institute recommends staying calm during goodbyes, practicing short periods of separation, and celebrating small successes when children cope well. Creating a warm, supportive environment where children feel understood can help reduce their fears over time. By addressing separation anxiety early, we can strengthen children's emotional resilience and support their long-term mental health.
