GOODBYE TO 2020-21

Closing out the 2020-21 school year comes with great joy as I look back on the year we had. Starting off in remote and transitioning to Hybrid and then full-reopening was challenging and yet rewarding. We have an amazing crew of staff and an incredible student body who have proven to be resilient and positive even in these unique circumstances. I am proud of our accomplishments and thankful to work alongside you all.  Although I do not know what the 2021-2022 school year will look and feel like exactly, I am certain that we will come back stronger together and stronger than ever in the fall Tigers! Be safe and Read, Read, Read this summer!

SAVE THE DATE: KINDERGARTEN PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

All of our Kindergarten students will have an opportunity to take a family photo with your teacher in person, on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 2nd at specific times which will be shared by your individual classroom teacher. STAY CONNECTED

Be sure to stay connected to Parent Square over the summer for important messages from the superintendent and myself regarding the opening of the school year. Office staff will have reduced hours over the summer, but can be reached over email at any time.

iPads AND SUMMER USE

Students will take their iPads home this summer and we would love to see them continue to use them for educational purposes only. Lexia Dreambox and Freckle are still accessible and specific to your child’s grade level. Other technology software programs are listed on the attachment. These hot links can challenge the students all summer long. Be sure to keep the iPad safe so it can return in the fall charged and ready to use next year.

ADAMS SCHOOL SCAVENGER HUNT

Please participate in our Summer Scavenger Hunt taking you all across our beautiful city of Santa Barbara. Now that we are free to be out and move about, we thought it would be lovely if you could take your children outdoors and explore all that this city has to offer. Attached is a document with 15 iconic locations we want you to find. Take a family photo when you arrive and send a copy to Mrs. Fresch at kfresch@sbunified.org All throughout the summer I will post the photos spotlighting your family enjoying the challenge. Keep track of all 15 photos on your own and when you have completed the Scavenger Hunt let Mrs. Fesch know via email, and the first family to find all 15  photo spots will receive an award! Get outside, have fun, and be safe Tigers! SEE ATTACHED

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THESE SIXTH GRADE PARENTS

We usually get to thank you in person at the end of the school year, but since we are not coming back together, I wanted to acknowledge the tremendous support of these exciting sixth-grade families over the years. Whether they worked on the PTA Board or other school committees, they were found around campus and readily available to lend a helping hand at any task. We will miss all our families, but these parents have gone above and beyond to support all students at Adams over the course of many years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Please try to join in on the fun onThursday, June 3rd 12:00 pm at the Mission Rose Garden. Bring Your Own: Food, Drinks, Blankets, Chairs, Lawn Games - (all optional). The parents have planned some time to gather all of the 6th graders together and have some intentional recognition and acknowledgement of this important milestone in their personal and academic lives! Wear sunblock and come ready to hang out. This is a non-sponsored school event. Student’s parents must also be present.

SUPPLY WISH LIST

In today’s Thursday Message you will find an attached supply wish list for the 2021-2022 school year. This is just a wish list. Parents are not required to provide all these items, but if you would like to donate items specific to your grade level for student’s use in the classroom we will gladly accept your donation. Adams spends approximately $30,000 annually on instructional supplies. Your donated items would free up money which then could be spent on other essential instructional resources such as technology, software programs, professional development, and books. We are sending the wish list now in case your family shops during the sales events over the summer break. The items can then be brought to your individual teachers in the fall when we hope to return and classes are assigned. SEE ATTACHMENT

They worked hard to serve our school community and are thankful for your support of school pride days, community service projects, and purchase of items throughout the school year!  The outgoing members voted to combine their monies with last year’s council and purchase of an item for the garden, such as a water feature, sundial, bird feeder, or thermometer. We look forward to sharing our donation with you in the fall!
