THIS FRIDAY KONA ICE READ-A-THON CELEBRATION - 4/15/22
This year's Read-a-thon "fun-raiser" was a big success! Adams students logged hundreds of thousands of minutes reading outside of school hours, and earned a school-wide Kona Ice celebration! On Friday, April 15 from 1:30-3 pm two Kona Ice trucks will be on the playground serving snow cones sponsored by the PTA. Grade levels will rotate throughout the afternoon to make sure all students have the opportunity to attend. Congratulations to our Terrific Tiger Readers!!

VISION AND HEARING
The recent vision and hearing screening that took place on campus on Monday was a huge success. We are grateful to the Lion’s Club and its volunteers for this offering. Individual student screening forms will go home in the Thursday Folder for students that participated. Parents that have questions may reach out to Patti Mahota in the health office.

EARTH DAY
Friday, April 29th is Earth Day and Adams will celebrate by encouraging our students and families to walk or bike to school. Perhaps you could even bring a trashbag with you and pick up trash along the way. You could then bring the trash bag to school to throw away your collected trash in designated trash cans on campus. Similar to our Explore Ecology lunch activity, it is so easy to lend a hand in keeping our environment clean! Families are invited to walk or ride together and then parents can stay and enjoy coffee with the PTA before and during Friday Flag. We would love to see you on campus!

How to Use Rewards / Consequences
Using rewards and consequences effectively can be trickier than it seems. Sometimes, small adjustments can make a world of difference in how children respond to these parenting techniques. This tool is designed to help parents learn best practices for using rewards and consequences. The How to Use Rewards / Consequences worksheet is split into two printouts, covering rewards and consequences separately. Topics include the importance of following through with rewards and consequences, praising good behavior instead of traits, not overdoing consequences, and more. The rationale of each tip is briefly explained, along with many examples. This worksheet may be helpful for parents who are struggling to get the results they want from their children when using rewards and consequences. rewards-consequences.pdf
