CALM CORNER

As we reach the end of the school year, I wanted to remind everyone to INHALE and EXHALE. Being your school counselor here at Adams, it has been a privilege to work along with the teachers and staff and witness how they provide ongoing support for our students. As we slowly transition into the summer, I wanted to remind everyone that taking a moment to breathe and being present goes a long way! Whether it's in the classroom with your students or at home with our children, it's important to practice mindfulness in order for us to be more present with our students and loved ones. Here are a few links to help you practice some mindfulness techniques:

EMLAC

We are thrilled to share that ELAC has undergone a transformative evolution. While ELAC has been the standard term used by the state of California, we’ve embraced a forward-thinking approach by adopting EMLAC because words matter. EMLAC reflects our belief that every student arrives with a rich linguistic background, and English proficiency is an invaluable addition to their repertoire. By shifting from “English Learner” to “Emergent Multilingual Learner”, we’re celebrating linguistic diversity and the assets our students bring to the table. Join us as we continue to empower and uplift our emergent multilingual communities. #EMLAC #LinguisticDiversity #Empowerment. On a different front, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Carlos Ojeda and Kenya Catalan for their steadfast participation in our EMLAC meetings throughout the years. Additionally, a special thanks to Maria Nadine Carlos for her dedicated years of service #Thankyou. As we look ahead to 2024-2026, we’re on the lookout for a new president and DEMLAC representative to lead. Know of an EML parent interested in stepping up? Reach out! Be a part of shaping our future! #NewParentLeadershipOpportunity
