NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK

COVID TEST GOING HOME

Covid tests will be going home with each student this week. These should be used within 24 hours before returning to school from winter vacation.  Submitting results is optional unless your child is positive for covid-19.

WINTER BREAK

There will be no school from Monday, December 19th - Monday, January 2nd, as our schools will be closed for winter break.  Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 3rd. Stay safe, spend time with your immediate family, and limit exposure to others with flu or COVID symptoms.  But most of all, be thoughtful and thankful this holiday season.

TOMORROW IS PAJAMA DAY, DECEMBER 16

Students may wear pajamas to school on Friday, December 16th for this month’s school pride day.  They must be appropriate for school. They can not have spaghetti straps, and must cover up most of your body.  If you have a nightgown that is like a dress, then you must wear shorts or pants underneath.  Students may wear robes and slippers. But don’t forget to bring tennis shoes for PE and /or recess. Holiday headwear is also allowable, including beanies, Santa hats, antlers and such.

MINIMUM DAY TOMORROW DECEMBER 16

Plan ahead: Friday, December 16th will be a 12 pm dismissal for our entire school, and all elementary schools in the District.

TOMORROW FRESCH COFFEE

Please join us for coffee on Friday, December 16 after the Friday Flag Assembly. Vanessa Rencher from MoveSB will give a short presentation about initiatives from the Safe Routes to School Program, followed by a Q&A. The information is one way to help with Adams's goal of having more students safely walking and biking to school. The La Cumbre Principal will also be hear to meet new families.

WINTER AND HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD

As the holidays approach it is nice to share information about differing Cultures celebrations. See this document for holiday celebrations around the world. Winter and Holiday Celebrations Around the World

PARKING LOT SPOTS ARE FOR ADAMS STAFF ONLY

Just a friendly reminder that both of our parking lots have spots designated for staff only. We have over 80 staff and fewer than 60 parking spots. There are two visitor spots in the upper lot, but other than that the only place for parents to park is in the Samarkand neighborhood or in the Earl Warren Parking lot. This is why we ask our kinder and TK families to park at Earl Warren and walk their students up safely. This is also the case for preschool families. Because preschool starts at 8 am some preschool families park in the lower lot and walk their child to class. But this is only of if they leave the lot before 8 am allowing staff to have access to their assigned spots. Thank you for understanding.

CALM CORNER

The holiday season is an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, plan a few adventures, and make the most of time off from work and school with your loved ones. Many parents opt to use these days off from school to plan enriching outings and make time for learning outside of the classroom. If you are looking for some ways to keep your kids’ minds and bodies active while school is out, here are a few fun activities your whole family can engage in this winter break. Check out these links for ideas:

And, although holiday breaks may be expected and welcomed changes in our daily lives, they can be disruptive if we don’t maintain some routine. As you and your family head into the upcoming school breaks, consider the following tips to help structure the time off and ease the transitions back to school:
