NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK

MONTESSORI INTEREST PARENT MEETING

On Monday, January 22, the Montessori teachers and principal will hold an informational meeting in person at 6:30 PM in the library. This is a parent-only meeting. We will share details about what a Montessori classroom looks like and the lottery process for the 2024-2025 school year.

WINTER CONCERT

The students have been working hard to present wonderful performances.  We will host these concerts outside so please dress warm! If it is raining we will cancel and communicate with you an alternative plan. Please plan to stand if you are only attending your child’s grade. If you plan to stay longer, or have multiple children in multiple grades, you may want to bring your own beach or camping chair. We know this is not ideal, but only for this year with no cafeteria. Thank you for understanding.

*Mrs. Dutton will send out a schedule with estimated times for each grade on the following dates.

TK - 3 Winter Concert - Friday, January 26, at 9 AM (outside weather permitting)

4 - 6 Winter Concert - Thursday, February 1, at  9 AM (outside weather permitting)

PATTI MAHOTA IS MOVING ON TO NURSING SCHOOL

Patti Mahota has worked at Adams for over 15 years, first as a school counselor through FSA, and then as our health tech here in the front office. She has been taking the prerequisite courses necessary to enroll in a nursing program, and recently was admitted and will begin classes at SBCC this spring. Tomorrow is her official last day as our health tech in the office; however, she will substitute for us in the office and around campus if her schedule permits. We are forever thankful for her kindness, support, and genuine care of our students all across campus.  We wish her all the best of luck in the nursing program and hope to see her back as a District nurse in two years!

ADAMS HAS A NEW DESIGNATED SUBSTITUTE

From Taylor Clark, our new designated substitute: It's a pleasure to be working with you all at Adams Elementary. I am from Glendale California, but for the past 4 years I've been a student at UC Santa Barbara and just graduated last Spring, with a bachelor's degree in History and Sociology. I've spent the past few months substituting at schools across Santa Barbara Unified School District, and I am planning to get into a multiple-subject teaching certification program in the future. I greatly enjoy getting to know my students, and doing everything I can to set them up for success later in life, just as my teachers did for me. When I'm not at school I like to spend time with family. I also enjoy reading and writing, and getting outdoors as much as I can - especially going on long walks and hikes. I look forward to working with all the students at Adams over the course of the school year.

DENTAL SCREENING CONSENT FORMS

This week your student teacher sent home a consent form for the dental screening that we will be having on our campus in a few weeks on February 2, 2024. It will be performed by the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics and the service is at no cost to you. Please make sure you return them by tomorrow Friday January 19,2024. Regardless of whether you’d like your child to participate. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our school family liaison Kenya Catalan (805)563-2515 ex. 1091 or Martin Villegas, the Dental Health Outreach Coordinator for the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics at (805) 319-5380.
