NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK
SCHOOL PRIDE DAY. TOMORROW, JANUARY 26
For this month’s school pride day on January 26, students are encouraged to participate in Athletic Wear Day. Please tell your Tiger to wear their uniform or appropriate clothes for the sport they are interested in. Students could also wear a jersey representing their favorite team or sport. Another option would be to dress up as an athlete they are impressed with. Ideas include basketball, soccer, dance, lacrosse, football, cheerleading, running… Students can wear anything they want related to sports! Please do not send sports equipment to school with your student, clothing only.
*** It is also the winter concert. Please dress according to how your music teacher suggestd and bring the jersey to wear on top AFTER the concert.
FAMILY READING NIGHT & READING COUNTS FUNDRAISER
On Tuesday, February 6 from 5-7 pm we will host our annual Family Reading Night! We will have El Taco selling tacos, 4th grade families selling other goodies, teacher read alouds, literacy game booths, informational booths for caregivers, and a presentation from the Santa Barbara Public Library. Our Reading Counts fundraiser will also be running during this time (2/1-2/9). Next week you will receive information in your child’s Thursday folder about Reading Counts and an RSVP to Family Reading Night!
UPDATED COVID POLICY
There have been changes in the isolation policy for COVID positive cases from the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) as of January 9, 2024. If you suspect that you or your children may have COVID, please test yourselves. We no longer test at school.
Positive cases with symptoms must be isolated for 24 hours from symptom onset (Day 1 is the day after symptom onset). Positive cases may return after 24 hours (Day 2) if symptoms are mild and resolving, AND they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication. If your child has a productive cough or is actively sneezing, they should remain home until symptoms improve.
Positive cases without symptoms do not have to isolate.
All student positive cases (with or without symptoms) should mask indoors through the end of Day 10 from the date of symptom onset or date of positive test if there are no symptoms. You may remove your mask sooner than 10 days if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. (Day 1 is the date following symptom onset or positive test if there are no symptoms.)
All staff positive cases (with or without symptoms) must mask indoors through the end of Day 10 from the date of symptom onset or date of positive test if there are no symptoms. You may remove your mask sooner than 10 days if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. (Day 1 is the date following symptom onset or positive test if there are no symptoms.)
To learn more about the changes, please check the district ParentSquare post titled: COVID-19 Protocol Changes on January 18, 2024.
Prepare ahead of time by ordering your free COVID tests. Each household can get 4 delivered for free by registering at https://special.usps.com/testkits. Additionally, we have rapid tests available in the health office.
PARKING LOT SPOTS ARE FOR ADAMS STAFF ONLY
Just a friendly reminder that both of our parking lots have spots designated for staff only. We have over 80 staff and fewer than 60 parking spots. There are two visitor spots in the upper lot, but other than that the only place for parents to park is in the Samarkand neighborhood or in the Earl Warren Parking lot. This is why we ask our kinder and TK families to park at Earl Warren and walk their students up safely. Thank you for understanding.
REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS THURSDAY MESSAGE
The students have been working hard to present wonderful performances. We will host these concerts outside so please dress warm! If it is raining we will cancel and communicate with you an alternative plan. Please plan to stand if you are only attending your child’s grade. If you plan to stay longer, or have multiple children in multiple grades, you may want to bring your own beach or camping chair. Those standing must stand behind any seated audience. Look for the chalk box to know where to place your chairs. We know this is not ideal, but only for this year with no cafeteria. Thank you for understanding.
*Mrs. Dutton will send out a schedule with estimated times for each grade on the following dates.
TK - 3 Winter Concert - Friday, January 26, at 9 AM (outside weather permitting)
4 - 6 Winter Concert - Thursday, February 1, at 9 AM (outside weather permitting)
DENTAL SCREENING CONSENT FORMS

It will be performed by the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics and the service is at no cost to you. Please make sure you return them by tomorrow Friday January 19,2024. Regardless of whether you’d like your child to participate. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our school family liaison Kenya Catalan (805)563-2515 ex. 1091 or Martin Villegas, the Dental Health Outreach Coordinator for the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics at (805) 319-5380.
