CALM CORNER

New Year's is the perfect time to talk to your children about realistic goal-setting. Learning to work towards sustainable, positive changes is an essential life skill that benefits people of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. Unfortunately, many New Year's resolutions are abandoned before the month of January is over. That's usually because the initial groundwork of establishing support and accountability hasn't been put in place. Below are a few suggestions to help kids set New Year's Resolutions, by creating  a resolution together you can provide guidance and support along the way. Additionally, check out the articles below for more helpful tips.

  1. Take the task seriously. You could even create a family goal.

  2. Consider alternatives to traditional resolutions.

  3. Help your child identify realistic and healthy goals.

  4. Identify small, actionable steps.

  5. Make it a learning experience
