Thank you for joining us for Open House in person! It was so great to see everyone and celebrate the year's work. The staff and students at Adams work incredibly hard, and deserve to be proud of their year. The Art Show was a sight to see! I hope you were able to enjoy all the beautiful art from each student across all grade levels. Thank you Mrs. Leo!  Thank you to the staff and parents that volunteered for the evening and helped to put the chairs away too!

SUMMER CYCLING CAMP
August 1st - 5th Monday - Friday 9am - 12pm ages 10- 14 years olds at Santa Barbara High School see attachment for details;

TOMORROW SCHOOL PRIDE DAY: ANYTHING BUT A BACKPACK DAY
Tomorrow, May 27, is Anything But a Backpack Day! For our school’s monthly pride day, the student council is encouraging students to get creative with how they will bring their school supplies to school. Today after Flag, they advertised some very simple ideas like a Trader Joe's bag, trash bag, gardening bucket, or pillow case. Feel free to go all out and grab something on wheels or something hollow to put your school supplies in. Make sure you have room to carry it with you, bring on the bus, or into the classroom patio space. But have fun with it!

VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST
Adams staff invited some parents and community members to a Volunteer Breakfast to be hosted in the School Library tomorrow, May 27, at 8:00 am. If you received a paper invitation please join us and plan to stay for the Friday Flag immediately following the breakfast. Students will have access to the playground while you enjoy your breakfast.

CONSTRUCTION
Starting immediately after school is out, on June 3rd, our school will begin the next phase of construction. Please be mindful if you are on campus over summer playing, and be safe. A large portion of our campus will be fenced off and important concrete pouring and electrical work will take place.

MEDICATION PICK-UP
If your student has medication in the Health Office, those medications must be picked up no later than June 2nd at 12pm.  The medication(s) must be picked up and signed for by an adult.  If the medication(s) is not picked up, it will be discarded by June 16, 2022. If you have any questions or would like to make other arrangements for the medication pick up, please call the health office 805-563-2515 ext. 1042. If you would like your child to have medication at school for the next school year, you may also pick up a new medication form at school and have it filled out by your doctor over the summer.  Bring the completed form and the medication in its original labeled container to the health office on the first day of school. Thank you, The Health Office

EMOTION FACES TO SUPPORT HOW YOU ARE FEELING

Pinning down the word that perfectly describes a feeling can be difficult, even for adults. Developing emotional intelligence requires experience and introspection, but a basic vocabulary comes first. The Emotion Faces printout is to help children match a word (and a face) with their feelings. Each of the colorfully illustrated faces depicts an emotion, with a simple emotion word to describe it.
How to implement the Emotion Faces printout is up to you, but here are a few suggestions:

  1. As a check-in ritual, encourage children to select an emotion from the sheet to describe how they're currently feeling.
  2. Periodically ask your student to check in with the emotion faces during stories. Let them select the emotion that best represents how they were feeling.
  3. Cut out each of the emotion faces, and put them in a bowl for activities. For example, as an icebreaker, ask members of a group to select an emotion, and share a story about that emotion.
  4. Create a small poster for the wall or bulletin board in your office to make things a bit more colorful.
