NEW INFORMATION THIS WEEK:

CELEBRATING EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR!

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Leslie Ayala, Adams Teacher of the Year, has worked as a classroom teacher in SB for 22 school years. At Adams she is a team player and dedicated to the success of each and every student and parent as evidenced in her offering of after school tutoring, summer school teaching, and acting as the teacher liaison between staff, the PTA, and AOK. During the pandemic Leslie accepted the responsibility of continuing in Distance Teaching gracefully, taking on a combination class without hesitation. She is open to learning and implementing new best practices and makes learning fun and engaging through hands-on experiences. We are lucky to work alongside her “Can Do, Will Do,” positive attitude!

CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Kelley Clay, Adams Classified EMployee of the Year, is our "Kindervention" Teacher extraordinaire! She has held roles at Adams through the years as a special ed paraeducator, safety monitor of parking lot routines, noon duty supervisor, ELD Zoom School intervention teacher, and social committee chair person. She has a servant leader mentality, giving back time, energy, love, and support to all she comes into contact with. Her creativity, positive attitude, and helpful heart are a perfect fit for her elementary support staff positions. She helps decorate for school-wide events and classroom environments, adding that touch of class. Our entire school community knows and appreciates Kelley Clay for all that she offers!

FROM TIGER TIMES REGARDING SUGAR FREE CAMPUS

Did you know that Adams is a sugar free school? That means that sugary treats and snacks are not allowed on campus. Sugar has been shown to lower concentration, suppress the immune system, and has been linked to asthma, food allergies, and diabetes. Healthy nutrition (including protein, fresh fruits, and lots of vegetables) plays an important part in a kid’s ability to learn and absorb material at school, and we want to give all of our kids the best chance for success! You can help by not allowing your child to take sugary snacks or treats to school. Free, nutritious (and tasty!) breakfasts and lunches are provided for all students by our fantastic cafeteria staff every school day. There is no need for students to bring additional snacks to campus.

It is also very important that kids do not share their food with other kids to maintain the health and safety of all students at Adams. Please talk to your child about not sharing their food with others at school. If your child wants to take something to school to share with their friends encourage them to write a gratitude note, draw a picture, or help them find some other creative way to show their friends that they care about them.
