Tomorrow (Friday, October 4) is the last day of the Tiger Love Fundraiser. We have raised $27,400 so far and have 74% participation school wide with several classes reaching 100% participation. Thank you to all who have supported our school and helped show your Tiger Love!
Classes that reach 100% participation will earn a class party and for any donations received online or in envelopes before school tomorrow, students will be entered into a drawing for some great prizes. You can donate online at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/aes or turn your envelope in at the office before school tomorrow.
DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON CAMPUS
Please be reminded that dogs are not allowed on school campuses. There are signs posted at all school entrances. There are students who are allergic and others who are afraid. Sometimes the nicest dogs, who are well trained, can be spooked in crowd settings and behave erratically. Because of this, dogs are not allowed on campus. If you are walking your dog to pick up your student you need to stay off campus and have your student meet you on Las Positas. Thank you for understanding.
WISHING WELL DONATION EFFORTS
Student Council would like to encourage all students to donate their loose change to the Wishing Well on campus for the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund through the Red Cross. We are collecting coins through October 18. Please ask your child to bring your loose change to school.
BICYCLING TO SCHOOL
Students are permitted and encouraged to ride their bicycles to and from school as an alternate and healthy mode of transportation. Students must be accompanied by an adult if they are riding a bike to school in grades TK through 3. Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders may ride their bicycles to school on their own. Electric bicycles are only permitted for students in grades 5 and 6. All students must wear a helmet at all times when riding their bicycle. Students who do not wear a helmet will lose the privilege of riding their bicycles for the remainder of the school year. Bicycles must be walked onto and off of campus, starting at the crosswalk. It is strongly recommended that students lock their bicycles at school, in the designated bike rack area. The school will not be responsible for lost or stolen bicycles.
MID-POINT NOTICES
Mid-point progress reports were sent out electronically through Parent Square on Tuesday evening to students in grades K-6 that are at-risk of not meeting grade-level standards on their report cards at year-end. There will be a way for parents to indicate that they received the notification electronically, and if we do not hear back from parents then we will resend the progress report via regular US Postal Mail. Please do not be alarmed, as it is so early in the school year and we will continue to work with your child all throughout.
FREE MOVIE AT SANTA BARBARA GOLF CLUB
Head to Santa Barbara Golf Club for a FREE family movie night on Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m. Bring blankets or low back chairs to watch Kung Fu Panda 4. ADAMS HOME SCHOOL COMPACT
The Adams School community is committed to excellence in the academic and social development of each child. In order to accomplish this goal, we agree to provide a setting in which encourages parents, teachers, and students to work together to support each student. Attached is our annual Home School Compact that is revisited each year by the School Site Council and then presented to the school community. As a Title I school this is a requirement to ensure that we invite parents to actively participate in their child’s education. See attachment: ADAMS PARENT/SCHOOL COMPACT 24-25
CALM CORNER
How ‘Tapping Therapy’ can help calm your mind (via BBC)
A simple on-the-go therapy could help ease anxiety, stress and reduce the impact of traumatic memories. It’s called emotional freedom technique, or EFT for short, and involves using your own fingers to tap pressure points in your body. Check out this short video explaining how this works.
