Please do not park in front of the office where it has been painted red. This area is not for drop-off or pick-up either. To keep the flow of the parking lot, safety of students, and access for buses, you CAN NOT stop, park, or drop-off/pick-up in this area. Even in after-school care, during AOK and RAP, this area needs to remain open at all times.

TIGER LOVE CAMPAIGN

Calling all families! Help us fund a successful TigerLove Campaign with 100% participation in every classroom.

Each year the Adams PTA asks families to generously donate at the beginning of the school year to help fund extra curricular programs, teacher and classroom resources, and events that make Adams special. While the district funds the school, our PTA spends about $250 per student to provide extra support that benefits all students at Adams.

Look for more details about how to donate any amount to the Tiger Love Campaign in this Thursday’s folder or go to https://secure.qgiv.com/for/aes to give online.

There are lots of incentives to participate:

  • A special drawing for prizes for families who donate at the Welcome Picnic.

  • Every student who submits a donation will be entered into drawings for prizes throughout the two week fundraiser.

  • Every class with 100% participation will earn a class pizza or popsicle party.

  • If we meet our $40,000 school-wide goal, we’ll have a Kona Shave Ice party for the whole school!

BRAVO!

Hello 5th and 6th grade Tiger Families! BRAVO! Registration is now Open! This FREE program is a great way for students to get extra help learning their music instruments. CALM CORNER
Screens Are Bad for Kids

There is a growing body of scientific research coming to the same conclusion: electronic devices and social media are bad for kids. “Excessive screen usage has detrimental effects on social and emotional growth, including a rise in the likelihood of obesity, sleep disorders, and mental health conditions including depression and anxiety. It can obstruct the ability to interpret emotions, fuel aggressive conduct, and harm one's psychological health in general”

“Setting [limits], utilizing parental controls, and demonstrating good screen behavior are all techniques that parents may use to manage children's screen usage.”

EMLAC

The Emergent Multilingual Learner Advisory Committee (formerly ELAC) is a state mandated parent committee for parents of Emergent Multilingual students who are still learning English and have not reclassified. They are tasked with informing parents on specific topics and encouraging our EMLs as they gain their second language. We are in need of one DEMLAC Representative and one Alternate Representative to stand for Adams at the district meetings. You do not need to run for this office. If you need more information, please reach out to Hortencia Corral (hcorral@sbunified.org) or Kenya Catalan (kcatalan@sbunified.org

Our first Adams EMLAC meeting for the year will be in person on September 23, 2024 in the cafeteria. Be on the lookout for more details as we will be sending out a nomination form on which you can state your intent to run for an open seat next week in the Thursday folder. We are only looking for a president or two co-presidents this year but by our bylaws those running must be voted in by ballot.
