EARL WARREN SAFETY REMINDERS
When using the Earl Warren parking lot as a family at Adams, please remember you must always park your car and escort your student to and from Adams school. You can not drop off in the lot and have your child walk up unattended. After school, students can not walk down there to meet you. This is part of our agreement. Students must be with an adult at all times.
Saturday, September 24th, 2022, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. In collaboration with the Food Bank of Santa Barbara, the Family Engagement Unit will host a Food Drive-In at McKinley Elementary. If you can't make it, we will have one Tuesday, September 27th, from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at Harding Elementary. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Kimberly Urrutia at (805)-963-4331 ext 1054.
Students may not use their personal cell phones during the school day to communicate with parents. All phone calls need to be made through the front office or a classroom teacher so we are aware of the student's needs. School policy states that if students have a phone on campus, they must be “Off and Away” at all times during the school day.
GIZMO WATCH (APPLE WATCH FOR KIDS)
Several primary students are wearing these new fancy watches to school and using them to text parents during the school day. They are also interrupting instructional time with music or ringtone sounds. Like cell phones, we will ask students to keep these in their backpacks as they should not be used while at school. If you feel this very valuable accessory is not safe in your child’s backpack, please ask them to leave it at home. Thank you for being supportive.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated so generously to this campaign! EVERY student at Adams benefits from your contributions.🧡 We raised about $30,000 and have over 80% participation!! 🧡 Prizes will be announced at Friday Flag tomorrow.
Thank you to all of the families that joined our Day of Action event this week. Look for sign-up information in next week’s Thursday folder.
FALL FESTIVAL PLANNING MEETING
Friday, September 23 in the Auditorium Join us in planning a FUN Family Fall Festival for Adams. Our goal is to bring the school community together by celebrating the Fall Season through different Cultural Traditions. This is your opportunity to create a fun, one of a kind event at our school! If you can't make the meeting but would like to participate or have an idea to contribute you can email email@example.com.
How I Feel: Emotional Literacy Tool
The How I Feel worksheet (attached below) is an activity that will encourage children to learn more about their thoughts and feelings and how to manage them. First, the child will describe their feelings and consider the consequences of several actions they could take to deal with them. With your help, they will identify a new and healthy way to manage their emotions. This worksheet uses examples and prompts to help children improve their emotional literacy. They will be prompted with common emotion words and a list of helpful coping skills. This worksheet is beneficial for children who are dealing with anger, depression, or other emotional problems and are acting out behaviorally as a result.
