Students interested in playing a brass or wind instrument can sign up using the QR code on the attached flyer. Bravo begins October 3rd.

AXXESS BOOKS

Adams will launch the sale of Axxess Books at the end of the month. Please hold off on purchasing a book from other schools or vendors and buy one from our students! More info to come.

BREAKFAST IS MOVING BACK TO RECESS BREAK TIME

Starting on Monday, September 19th, we will be going back to serving breakfast during the morning recess time instead of before school. We have not been serving very many students before school. Although students should eat in the morning before school as a practice, if they do not get to school on time and don’t have food available at morning recess time, we have most students not eating until mid-day. By then, students are tired, hungry, and unable to focus in the classroom. When we served breakfast at morning recess in years past, we typically would serve over 350 students, whereas now we are only serving about 130. As a family, please make sure you accommodate this change in your morning routine by at least giving your child a healthy snack and beverage if you are not making breakfast each day. Students were interviewed and surveyed to help us make this decision. Thanks for understanding the need to make the change.

OCEAN GUARDIANS
Students in 3rd-6th grade are invited to participate in the NOAA Ocean Guardians Ambassadors after-school program to learn about our creeks, oceans, and watersheds and how we can protect the local habitat. Students and their caregivers are invited to join us for a kickoff on Wednesday, September 21st, from 1:30-3:00 pm. Meet under the solar panels on the playground to hear all about this year’s program and participate in a hands-on project on campus. Sign-ups for Ambassadors will take place at the end of September.  See attached flyer.

CALM CORNER

Relationship Enhancement

Each family is unique, with its own values, culture, and traditions. That is as it should be, since values, culture, and traditions set the bedrock of your children’s character and relationships. In addition to each family’s unique approach, there are skills you can develop that provide a road map to dealing with most day-to-day parenting (or classroom challenges), which will also create a healthy foundation between parents and kids, and/or teachers.

These skills are designed to help parents or teachers problem solve, teach kids good habits, and nurture communication, respect, and trust within families or classrooms. These are called PRIDE skills. PRIDE Skills can help to reduce emotional outbursts by putting more focus on positive behaviors, and shifting the ways adults communicate with children that allows for children to feel seen and heard.  PRIDE Skills are attached.
