ADAMS AFTER-SCHOOL THEATRE PRESENTS 12 ANGRY PIGS & GIANTS IN THE SKY~ Next Friday, May 3, from 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm Adams after-school Theatre class presents two plays: "12 Angry Pigs" and "Giants in the Sky". !2 Angry Pigs is a very short comical yet surprisingly educational parody of "Twelve Angry Men,"  and features our 2nd and 3rd-grade students. "Giants in the Sky"  features our entire group of more than 40 2nd - 6th-grade students in a magical story that explores the world of Giants who live above the clouds where their job is to keep the sky beautiful.

SOLES FOR SOULS~ Student Council is collecting gently used tennis shoes to donate to a non-profit organization called Soles for Souls. As a school that focuses on health and fitness, we think it would be great to donate tennis shoes to children and adults around the country who may not have the means to purchase athletic footwear. Soles for Souls will take shoe donations of any type, but again, we are trying to promote physical fitness awareness with this collection. Please search your closets for gently used tennis shoes and consider donating them to our school before May 10. Tennis shoes in all shapes and sizes must be washed at home in the washing machine and then brought to school with the shoelaces tied together, to keep pairs of shoes together. If you are donating slip-on tennis shoes then they need to be rubber banded together or ties together with string or ribbon. Student Council thanks you for your generous contributions this year!

HEADPHONES /  EARBUDS~ All students are encouraged to bring and wear their own earbuds when using technology at school for hygiene reasons. For students in third grade through sixth grade, the upcoming CAASPP test to be administered in May require the use of sound, so all students will need earbuds. If you would like to purchase a pair from the school that your child can keep, the cost is $3.00. If you do not purchase your own earbuds, we will loan your student a pair for testing, but they will not be able to keep them. (Again for hygiene reasons it is recommended that each student have their own personal pair.)

Research shows that the right kind of care can mitigate the impact of childhood trauma in children and help them recover and rebuild. There are 6 key ways parents can support a healthy stress response: sleep, nutrition, exercise, mental health, mindfulness, and healthy relationships. Together, all of these important things can decrease the stress response and can reduce the potential negative effects of trauma.
