THURSDAY MESSAGE OCTOBER 24, 2019

ROAR CARD

Congratulations to the following Roar Card Winners: Even Reed, Ivette Coronado Vargas, Zoe Medina, Camille Hicks, Olivia Katsev, Christiano Fuste, Alan Ordonez, Canon Kaminski, Nefertiri Solis.  Thank you for making Responsible, Organized, Academic and Respectful choices!

PARKING LOT REMINDERS

Both the parking lot in front of the school office and the lot behind the kindergarten building are designated for staff parking only. Adams’ staff arrives between the hours of 7:30 and 8:30. If parents are dropping off for even a short minute in preschool or other grades, it takes away spots for staff who are trying to get to work on time. It is very frustrating and uncomfortable for a staff member to have to address a parent who is parked in the parking lot or in a designated spot. Please be respectful and mindful at all times and park across the street or in the Earl Warren Showgrounds lot if you want to walk your child onto campus. Otherwise, you may only drop-off in the upper lot in the designated areas for student safety.

ASTRO CAMP FOR FIFTH GRADE

Camp for all fifth is quickly approaching! The cost to cover expenses is $100 per student. If your family feels they will not be able to contribute this donation, please contact Mrs. Fresch immediately to either set-up a payment plan option or to arrange to help with fundraising opportunities. We want all students to participate in this wonderful opportunity!

CIMI CAMP FOR SIXTH GRADE

Camp for sixth graders is quickly approaching! The cost to cover expenses is $125 per student. If your family feels they will not be able to contribute this donation, please contact Mrs. Fresch immediately to either set-up a payment plan option or to arrange to help with fundraising opportunities. We want all students to participate in this wonderful opportunity!

EARBUDS

Adams is asking each parent to make a donation of earbuds for their own students to use at school. We feel it is best for hygiene reasons. Students can bring their own earbuds in a baggie and we can store them in the classroom so students don’t have to take them back and forth from school to home.  Regular iPhone and iPad cell phone compatible earbuds can be purchased at the 99-cent store and brought to school for use with school devices. We have also purchased an allotment that can be bought in the front office for $3. Thank you for this donation to support student use of devices in the classrooms.

KYLE’S KITCHEN ~ Thank you for joining us! What a fun night. We are excited to hear soon about our fundraising efforts.

FRESCH COFFEE Join us Friday, October 25, 2019, for FRESCH COFFEE following Friday Flag Ceremony on the playground at 8:30 sharp! We will make announcements and celebrate staff and students each week. Parents are encouraged to stay for the fun.

TITLE I PARENT MEETING

On Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Principal’s coffee, part of our discussion will be: “What it means to be a Title I School.” As a Title I school we are eligible for federal funding and I will take this opportunity to share with the school community how our funds are spent to support student achievement specifically at Adams.

COSTUME PARADE~ Everyone is invited to come to school dressed in a Halloween costume on Thursday, October 31st. We will be holding our Transitional Kindergarten and kindergarten Costume Parade on the Playground at 8:30 am, immediately following the Pledge of Allegiance.  We ask that students do not wear scary or gruesome costumes with fake blood. Students are also not allowed to bring pretend weapons to school as part of a costume, and no masks or props. Shoes must be appropriate for recess and PE activities as well. Do not send students to school with candy on Halloween or the days that follow. Individual classes will communicate with parents if they are having celebrations in the room; however, as a reminder, we are focusing on healthy snack consumption this year.

PARENT CONFERENCES ARE COMING UP~ Be sure to work with your classroom teacher to identify a time that you are available for a parent conference. All students in grades 1-6 will conference on one of the following days: November 18-22. School is out at noon on all these days for students in grades 1-6.
