Special Education Parent Meeting

Our last Special Education Parent Meeting will be Friday, May 5th at 8:30am in the Adams library. We will be discussing the new English Language Learner Reclassification requirements for Students with Disabilities.


Parents Night Out/Family Movie Night

Drop off your child or stay and enjoy the family friendly movie Trolls in the auditorium on Friday, May 5th. The cost is $5 for the movie and $10 for the movie and pizza dinner.


National Bike to School Day

All students are encouraged to Bike to School on Wednesday, May 10th in celebration of National Bike to School Day. We will be showcasing our bike riders at our 8:30am assembly as they parade around our playground.


Summer Swim Camp Scholarships

The Santa Barbara Police Activities League (PAL) will be supporting all of our families that qualify for free or reduced lunch with Summer Swim Camp Scholarships and Registration on Sunday, May 7th, 9AM-1PM at 1235 Chapala St. (please see attached flier). Please take advantage of this fabulous opportunity for your child!! The camps are first come, first serve. We are extremely grateful to the Audacious Foundation for making the attached camps available for our families for only $25 a week.


Principal’s Coffee

My next principal’s coffee has been changed to Monday, May 1st at 8:30am in the Adams Library. The topic for this month’s coffee will be focused around the 3-6th grade CASSPP Assessment.   All of our 3-6th grade students will be taking the CASSPP in English Language Arts and Math, May 15-25.  I will be covering the content of the exam and how to understand the parent report.


Audacious Summer Swim Scholarship Application

The Audacious Foundation is also partnering with the City Parks and Recreation department to provide 106 scholarships for the 2017 Parks and Recreations department summer camps and programs for families that qualify for free lunch. The following programs and corresponding scholarships will be administered by the Aquatics Section:

  • 46 scholarships for the Ortega Learn to Swim Program, Levels 2 &3
  • 20 scholarships for the Junior Lifeguard Swim Clinics
  • 20 scholarships for the two-week Junior Lifeguard Nipper Program
  • 20 scholarships for the full seven-week Junior Lifeguard Program

Scholarships will be awarded to eligible candidates on a first come, first served basis. Audacious Foundation Scholarship Applications and City Parks and Recreation registration forms are available in our front office.


National Teacher Appreciation Day

National Teacher Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 2nd! Let’s all take this opportunity to show our love and gratitude towards the caring and dedicated teachers at our school.
